The Holland Pouch pattern is a quilted boxy pouch pattern with three size options, each of which only uses three fat quarters of fabric! The inside of the Holland Pouch is completely finished with all raw edges covered by binding (cut on grain, not bias binding) and no curved seams to sew. With two different views, this multi-purpose tote can be changed up to show off large scale prints or
you can add interest with a contrasting bottom and handles. The interior band was designed to help support the weight of many different types of handles.

There is a large zipper pocket to stowaway the essentials and two easy access slip pockets to hold a cell phone or lip balm. The key fob was designed not only to manage keys, but the open loop is left open as a hook for sunglasses.

For the Main Exterior, this pattern was written for home decor and/or bottom weight fabrics such as cotton canvas, duck cloth, and denim with weights of ~6-8 oz/sq yard. The Lining is based on quilt cotton and woven fabrics with similar weights of ~4 oz/sq yard, such as linen or chambray.

View A uses contrasting fabric for a color-block design and also allows the opportunity to use a
heavier fabric for more base protection.

This is a great time to mix and match substrates, but please test to see if your machine can handle the fabric bulk. The Rolled Handles, as part of these instructions, use a double-fold construction method. With the addition of interfacing, they can get thick quickly. Using vinyl/cork/leather, as shown, may not be suitable for all domestic machines (I use a semi-industrial machine.) However, if you would still like to use these fabrics, you can try a single-fold construction technique to reduce bulk. Alternatively, you can also use 1 1/2” webbing. The Leah Travel Bag is a roomy mid-size backpack and purse inspired by vintage airplane bags with it’s boxy
structure and plentiful pockets. The silhouette has been updated with modern features and lots of options for any bagmaker.

View A is a boxy backpack with a front pocket compartment that doubles as a built-in wallet and
includes a security flap.

View B is the homage to vintage with an adjustable crossbody strap and piping detail. This view is also a project bag with elastic slots in the front compartment for tools and a back grommet hole for on-the-go fiber crafts.

All views include a back slip pocket, an interior welt zipper pocket, interior divided slip pocket, and exterior side slip pockets for cell phones. There are triangle rings built into the handle to hold both the strap option and/or any additional accessories, like keys and bag charms. All of these options can be mixed and matched to create your own custom bag!

In this pattern, you will learn how to create accordion gussets for an expandable zipper pocket, make a cardslot lining, create five different pocket views, & use varying hardware for different looks. You will learn a bias tape interior finish which also aids in Leah’s structure. As an Intermediate Beginner pattern, you must have experience working with zipper by-the-yard, installing snaps & sewing through thick seams.

This pattern was written for home decor and/or bottomweight fabrics such as cotton canvas, duck cloth, and denim with weights of ~6-8 oz/sq yard. The Lining is based on quilt cotton and woven fabric with similar weights of ~4 oz/sq yard, such as linen or chambray.

The layers can begin to add up (especially in View B with the piping,) so make sure your machine can handle the fabric thicknesses. The cardslots and interior slip pocket layers can get bulky, so a crisp ripstop or lightweight waterproof canvas (WPC) can also be used without the aid of interfacing.

Metal Zipper Ends! Need I say more? Add these to a zipper on your bag opening or a or zipper pouch. No need to fiddle with sewing little fabric zipper tabs when you can just slide these babies on! These also work great to finish of the ends of cord.

Instructions:

• Trim the zipper tails off so they are just beyond the metal stops at the end of the zipper (sometimes it is helpful to put in a couple whip stitches right by the metal stops to sew the open end closed.)
• Then fold one side of the zipper tape to the back, and then the other. Slide it in the zipper end for fit. Fits good? Then pull it out and get the screw started a bit. I put some glue inside that adheres to metal and fabric, such as Beacon 3-in-1, E-6000, or some Aleene's products.
• Refold and slide it back in, and screw the screw in all the way. If you are using a wide zipper, it might have a very large end stop, sometimes that needs to be cut off to fit, or the wider zipper tapes need to be trimmed a bit.
